A RM20mil facility will be set up in Port Klang, under a joint-venture (JV) company, to undertake research, development and production of green rubber compound and its derivatives across the Asean region.
The facility would see a RM20mil investment over the next 24 months, a company said in a statement.
Green Rubber Asean chief executive officer Ahn Soo-Jin said that with an initial production capacity of 10,000 tonnes a year, the company would expand the facility on an ongoing basis to meet the demands from South-East Asia.
“This marks the beginning of facility expansion that uses Green Rubber’s delink technology to produce the green rubber compound,” he said.
Meanwhile, Datuk Vinod Sekhar, founder and chairman of Green Rubber Global Group, said in the statement that Malaysia was chosen to establish the first major production facility as the delink technology was the lifetime work of his late father Tan Sri Dr B. C. Sekhar.
