The Largest Gathering of Biomass Stakeholders in Asia and Europe
The EU-Asia Biomass Best Practices & Business Partnering Conference 2012 is a flagship initiative of the EU-Malaysia Biomass Sustainable Production Initiative (Biomass-SP), a development cooperation project funded by the European Union (EU) under the SWITCH-Asia Programme, jointly promoted by the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), the Association of Environmental Consultants and Companies of Malaysia (AECCOM), the European Biomass Industry Association (EUBIA), and the Danish Technological Institute (DTI).
The Conference will act as the focal point for assembly of local and regional biomass stakeholders. It brings together current and future producers of bioenergy and bio-based products with biomass traders, technology providers, equipment manufacturers, investors and policy-makers.
If you are looking for potential business and technology partnership in biomass products, services and technologies with a special focus on Asian biomass industry and link to the European market, then the EU-Asia Biomass Best Practices & Business Partnering Conference 2012 is the place to be!will cover best practices and successful case studies of biomass utilisation in the areas of bioenergy, biofertilisers, high value chemicals and biofuels, eco-products and green building materials.

Biomass Potential in Asia
In Southeast Asia, residues produced from bagasse, rice husks, palm oil waste, and wood waste in five ASEAN countries: Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam are abundant and have strong potential as feedstock for power generation and eco-products manufacturing. Meanwhile, the demand for biomass continues to grow in China, Korea and Japan, where aggressive government policies continue to encourage power production from biomass.
In response to this, Malaysia introduced the National Green Technology Policy in 2009, the 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP) and the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) in 2010, as well as the Renewable Energy Act and the National Biomass Strategy in 2011 to unlock the wealth creation potential of its biomass.
Areas of focus include:
Biomass as energy includes conversion of biomass feedstock into solid biofuel (pellets, briquettes), biomass power plant projects (co-firing, methane capture, and gasification), liquid biofuel such as diesel and ethanol.
Biomass as high value chemicals applies to the development of valuable chemical precursors such as sugar alcohols, catalyst, and lactic acid, as well as valuable co-products for animal and aqua feed such as maltodextrin, etc.
Biomass as eco-products refers to utilization of biomass feedstock in materials such as pulp and paper, biocomposite, and bioplastics as sustainable substitution for fossil-based materials.
Why You Should Attend?
• To share best practices, strategies, and know-how on biomass utilisation and commercialisation with experts from the EU and Asian countries.
• To explore and identify business and technological development opportunities within Malaysia and Asian countries for sustainable and green biomass business models.

• To highlight your company’s profile and establish useful business contacts with buyers, suppliers, business collaborators, investors, technology providers, and enhance potential for business collaboration amongst local small and medium enterprises (SMEs), government agencies, industry groups and research institutions and universities (RIUs) from Europe and Asia.
