Green Procurement

Recognizing the impact of consumer’s choice and consumption patterns on environment, changing purchasing behavior plays a large part in the global strategies to combat climate change. A lot of countries and private companies have established green purchasing policies to opt for goods and services that respect the environment. For example, European Commission (EC) has established two directives for its Member States to implement unified national policies which adopt green public procurement practices. Similarly, other major export markets like Japan and USA have begun to require compliance with their environmental standards.

In response to this, BIOMASS-SP is planned to catalyze the growth of biomass SMEs in Malaysia towards achieving these standards and ultimately guiding them to break the international markets. At present, it is without a doubt the global market is moving towards more sustainable future, BIOMASS-SP is making sure the biomass SMEs in Malaysia is heading on the same direction.
